Available this week for Thanksgiving, last minute discounts applied! The Acorn Shores cottage is in the ideal location to experience all that Hayward have to offer. 15 min. to town, 4 minutes to the boat launch and trail access. Plenty of parking for 2 trailers in the roundabout at the end of the drive.
BEDROOMS/BEDS:
This property features a spacious master suite and a second bedroom with lake views and a daybed/trundle combo. In addition, the couch in the living room pulls out into a queen bed with a comfortable memory foam mattress. Looking for a space to sleep multiple adults? The Acorn Shores Lake House next door sleeps 10 and more comfortably sleeps multiple couples. (Please note that the two buildings are close to each other but that the cottage has curtains for privacy). Newly added is a dedicated private firepit, dock, and large deck overlooking the lake.
BOATING INFORMATION:
Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your boat! The cottage features a brand new dock perfect for docking your boat while here. If you are interested in pontoon rental, Hayward Power Sports offers pontoons and we have a discount code for those who end up booking with us. Please note that our lake is a no wake lake, however there is a navigable channel at the top to Upper Twin lake, where you can reach the other lakes on the chain and also enjoy boating and tubing from 11AM-5PM every day.
SWIMMING/KAYAKING/CANOING: The water on our lakefront gently slopes out and is roughly 3-4 feet deep at the end of the dock. The lake is spring-fed so the water is clear. As the lake bed is mucky, ideal conditions for swimming would be off a boat or off the lily pad provided at the property to get some distance from shore. These two conditions (clear water and mucky lake bed) make for excellent fishing which we will go into detail about in the next section. We provide two kayaks and a canoe for guests to use when the water is open.
HOT TUB ACCESS: During the summer months (June-September 9th) the use of the hot tub will be exclusively reserved for the Lake House guests. However, throughout the rest of the year, if there is no one booked into the Lake House (most typically booked on the weekends), the cottage guests may request access and use of the hot tub for a one time fee of $125. As the hot tub is dedicated to the Lake House, we cant guarantee its availability to cottage guests until check-in. If the hot tub is very important to you, we recommend booking the Lake House to guarantee it will be available for your use.

ACCESS: Codes are sent on the day of check-in via message on your booking platform. Guests are able to self check-in anytime after 4pm via the electronic deadbolt.
PARKING/DRIVEWAY: The cottage has parking for 3 cars. Extra parking may be available by request. Please note that our driveway is quite steep and 4WD is required in the winter months. Fortunately, our property shares a round-a-bout with the next door neighbor and guests are able to use the neighbors drive when needed.
AMENITY LIMITATIONS
This cottage is situated on a resort and has some shares amenities with the lake house next door. Currently the sandbox area, lily pad, and canoe are shared. The buildings are close to each other (maybe 20 feet away), however both homes have curtains for privacy. Newly added in fall of 2023 is a sloped path down to the lake area. There are 6 stairs along the path, however guests with mobility issues should consider whether they are able to navigate inclined and uneven paths before booking with us.
DOG POLICY
We welcome the canine members of your family to vacation with you! This is a dog-friendly property and there may be dogs present during your stay in the lake house or neighboring property which shares a roundabout with us. Please make sure you and your party are comfortable around friendly dogs. All dogs on the property are expected to be registered with the host through the signing of our dog policies, well-behaved, good around unfamiliar people, non-aggressive and not prone to prolonged barking/yapping. An extra cleaning fee of $100 is required for guests who bring a pooch in order to preserve the cleanliness of the property for the next guests. We provide dog friendly amenities such as a dog bed, and water and food bowls. This property has a limit of one dog unless otherwise approved by the host.

House Rules
Hey there! As superhosts, we aim to make your stay as comfortable as it can possibly be. Our aim is to help our guests create beautiful memories at Acorn Shores. For us to do so, we would truly appreciate it if you can follow these house rules. After booking, you will be sent a rental agreement outlining these terms to digitally sign.
1. No unregistered guests at any time without prior approval. Any unauthorized guests/pets will be charged a fee of $50 per unauthorized person/animal, per night, and may result in eviction without warning or refund.
2. There is strictly no smoking in the cabin or on the property. If evidence of smoking is discovered (smoke smell in the property AND video footage of guests smoking on the premises) an additional fee of $500 will be charged. If the next guest's reservation is adversely affected, the additional cost that is incurred by losing the next guest's reservation if we cannot eliminate the odor in time will be your responsibility. Following finding evidence of smoking in the cabin or on the property, guests may be evicted without warning or refund.
3. Guests are required to sign a rental agreement and a $450 security deposit hold is required before check-in. The hold is released 4 days after check-out provided there is no damage or broken house rules as stipulated in the rental agreement. Guests must tell the host within 4 hours of check-in if there are any issues with the premises or amenities. Host will not be held liable for any issues not disclosed upon check-in or within this 4 hour time frame.
4. Please note that we have cameras on the premises. Doorbell cameras are located at the front doors and monitor the entry and the driveway, and there are others monitoring the sliding doors at the basement and cottage exits. Your reservation will be terminated immediately if you disable, unplug, tamper with, cover, block or alter the wifi equipment or security equipment (cameras).
5. We love dogs and welcome them in our home, however, in order to preserve good relationships with the neighbors, we ask that guests with pets abide by these rules. Up to 2 well-trained dogs are allowed for an additional $150 fee (extra cleaning required because of regular renters with allergies). Strictly no cats allowed. Dogs must remain on a leash when off property, be under control at all times, and not be aggressive. Dogs must be familiar with each other, good around other dogs and unfamiliar people (we cannot control when the neighbors will have dogs around) and not prone to prolonged barking or yapping so as to not disturb the community. No dogs shall be left unsupervised in the home and all dogs must be older than 2 years at the time of rental. An additional security deposit may be required in certain cases or when exceptions are made. If dogs are found to be out of compliance with any of the above, the host reserves the right to ask that the dog(s) be kenneled for the duration of the stay.
6. Firewood is provided, however rising wood prices and keeping a good stock has become difficult to manage when guests take wood for both indoor and outdoor fires. Therefore, we have decided to only provide wood for indoor fires. If you would like to use the outdoor firepit, please bring firewood of your own or feel free to grab kindling or downed wood in the forest around the property. Firewood used from the covered supply without permission will incur a $60 restocking fee. Alternatively, you may purchase extra firewood for $40 if you would like to use it for outdoor fires.
7. Quiet hours are in effect from 10pm-7am. We have a good relationship with our neighbors and want to make sure we are sensitive to the fact that we have retirees and others in the area who enjoy the restful and peaceful qualities of the lake, just as we hope you do!
8. Lake Rules-The lake we are on (McClain) is a no wake lake. At the top of our lake there is a navigable channel to Upper Twin Lake, where wakes are allowed between 11AM and 5PM everyday. Please be respectful of these rules while boating. Breaking them may cause our rental license to be in jeopardy and may result in eviction without refund. Do not dive into the lake. Entering the lake is at your OWN RISK and we are not responsible for accidents or injuries. Do not leave the chairs or anything next to the lake and return used kayak gear and chairs to their places at the end of your stay.
9. Using the kayaks, canoe, or other recreational equipment is at your own risk. We are not responsible for accidents or injuries. Novices or beginners should not use the equipment. Equipment is for experienced users and intended to be used only while using appropriate safety gear such as life jackets.
10. Please do not clean, de-scale, or store fish in the house. Fish smell cannot be removed on short notice and ruins the experience for the next guest. A fish cleaning table has been provided outside the lake house for this purpose.
11. The person booking is responsible to make sure all adult occupants have read the rules and by booking with Airbnb accept all responsibility for these terms and conditions during stay.

We ask that all guests do some light cleaning up after themselves in order to help our housekeeper quickly prepare for the next guests:
1. Please dispose of all OPENED items in the refrigerator and take all trash to the dumpster at the end of the driveway after your stay.
2. Please wash all dishes and leave in the dishwasher or to dry on a towel for pots and pans.
3. Remove any used sheets and leave at the end of the beds.
