Aberyscir Coach House is in the hills of the Brecon Beacons South Wales. It was the coach house for the rector of Aberyscir and sits behind our Victorian Rectory. Now converted into a comfortable single storey holiday cottage for two.

Aberyscir is a tiny hamlet just 2.5 miles outside Brecon, your nearest town for shopping and restaurants. There are uninterrupted views of Pen Y Fan, our tallest mountain, and the surrounding range. The river Yscir runs just below the property and you are surrounded by our fields where native breed sheep graze in the summer months. Our chickens give you free range eggs which form part of your welcome pack. Cradoc golf club is a short distance away and trout fising is available on the Yscir.

The Brecon Beacons National Park can offer a wide range of activites and places to visit for everyone young or old. To mention just a few:

Walk in the hills or stroll along the Brecon and Monmouth Canal.
Visit a coal mine or a Welsh gold mine.
Try riding, canoeing, caving or star gazing, the park has Dark Skies Reserve status.
Visit gardens, houses, castles or monuments all with a Welsh myth or legend to tell.
Food, literature, music or agricultural festivals happen throughout the year.
Try a wide range of restaurants from the traditional Welsh Sunday roast to the latest prize winning cuisine.

There is a lot of information in the coach house to help you plan your time and as a Brecon Beacons Ambassador I can offer you more information should you need it. My husband is a volunteer warden in the park and knows quite a few of the paths as he helps maintain them and can advise on the most suitable routes.

The property consists of the following:

Double bedroom
Double bed, wardrobe and bedside tables. Wool duvet with cotton bedding or if you prefer sheets and blanket.

Bathroom
Bath with overhead electric shower, toilet and handbasin.

Lounge/Diner
Sofa, easy chair, dining table and chairs.
Log burner with logs provided
Flat screen HD TV with HD freesat,DVD,Radio,CD,selection of books.

There is access to a washing machine and dryer in the main house(small additional charge) in addition to a second fridge and freezer in the adjacent barn.

Outside area
A patio area outside the back door with table and seating. Brick BBQ or a mobile one if you prefer. The area is not fenced from the rest of the property and you are free to walk in our fields or wood, or sit in the swing seat and take in the view.. Ample parking beside the cottage and safe storage for bikes in the adjacent barn.

A great week spent in a very peaceful a quiet place. As we were driving, we found this to be a great location for all of our hikes (max 45mins drive away). Plus it is near Brecon which is great little town to visit with everything you need. Val has plenty of good tips for whatever is on your to do list. Don’t hesitate to stop by.

Stayed here for three nights. Valerie was proactive and attentive right from the get-go and ensured we arrived safely and without any confusion. Communication was clear and immediate before and during our stay. The space was lovely, clean and private - it was beside the owner's house but they ensured we were able to have our own privacy throghout our stay. Valerie even provided some basic, but much needed amenities such as fresh eggs, teabags / milk sugar and even homemade jams! The hosts gave some wonderful recommendations and couldn't have been more helpful. A great location, with Brecon town being a 10-minute drive away and walks around the national park nearby. We will be staying again next time we are in South Wales. Thank you so much Valerie and Peter!

Our stay with Valerie was fabulous in every way. The house was perfect, the bed and pillows so comfortable. Valerie gave us excellent suggestions on where to walk, all of which were beautiful spots, sometimes more strenuous than I anticipated but with fantastic views and a great sense of achievement at the end. The little extra touches, eggs, chocolates, wine and home made jam, made it very special. Thank you Valerie for being such a great host. We will recommend your place to everyone. Hope to be back one day to your beautiful spot in the world.

Peaceful, relaxing stay in a beautiful location. Property was spotless, welcoming and comfortable with additional touches such as fresh flowers and logs for the burner. Boiler room at the end useful for drying wet clothes. Lovely hosts provided all information required prior to arrival, and were also a fount of local knowledge, yet unobtrusive, during the stay. Wildlife in and around the grounds. Walks from the doorstep, and further into the Brecon Beacons easily accessible.

We had a lovely few days at The Coach House. Valerie was an attentive host. She gave us lots of tips about places to visit which supplemented the information already available. Chocolate, wine, Welsh cakes, newly laid eggs, home made jam and the basics were all provided and much appreciated. We would love to return.

Meet The Host

Hello I am Valerie the owner operator of Aberyscir Coach House.
Having travelled the world for years we settled in the Brecon Beacons about 10 years ago. We fell in love with our Victorian rectory that has spectacular views of the mountains. I have become a Brecon Beacons Ambassador and my husband Peter a volunteer warden helping to maintain the paths in the park.
We meet all our guests on arrival and are here should you want any help or information. We do have 2 black labradors who also enjoy meeting the guests and the chickens are your neighbours.
