There are many fun things to do in Canyon:
1. Head to Palo Duro Canyon. The 2nd largest Canyon in North America.
Great place to picnic, hike, ride bikes, ride horses (highly recommend Palo Duro Stables – see a part of the canyon you can’t see anywhere else), take Jeep tours, zipline or if it’s summer, catch the musical, TEXAS
2. Shop at the many cute boutiques and shops in Canyon, most of which are around the square but others can be found down 4th Ave towards 23rd street. The square is just two short blocks west of Buffalo Junction.
3. Visit WTAMU and walk through the beautiful campus. Be sure to go by the clock tower and water fountain
4. Catch an athletic event at WTAMU. The athletic teams are good and tickets are inexpensive and can be found at gobuffgo.com
5. WTAMU has a wonderful dance and theater program too. Google theater or at WTAMU to see what options there
6. Visit the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. It’s a great museum and very interesting. Location on 4th on the WT campus
7. Visit Canyon Aqua Park in the summer. It’s just a few blocks south of here off 19th.
8. If you brought your mountain bike, the Canyon Trails at Buffalo Hill are easy to get to north of here by Kimbrough Stadium
9. WTAMU activities center. $5 to use all day. Has indoor pool and waterslide, workout facilities, basketball courts, bowling (additional fee).
10. If you have kids and just need a park to go play at, there is one next to the Canyon Aqua Park or at Hunsley Hills.
11. The Canyon Area Library is nearby off 3rd Ave and is great for something indoors. They have a great children’s section/play area and lots of programs.
12. Creek House Honey Farm – on the way to the Canyon on 4th Ave- great shop and eats and in summer give bee keeping tours.
13. Bar Z winery has beautiful views, wine, and sometimes live music.
You can make a short drive to Amarillo and find many other things to do:
1. Shopping on 6th street (Old route 66). Has eclectic shops and restaurants
2. Many restaurant options throughout the city to choose too
3. Visit the famous Cadillac Ranch
4. Wonderland Amusement Park – it’s quaint. Don’t expect Disney but it’s fun
5. The Big Texan – Home of the Free 72 oz Steak as seen on Man vs Food
6. Movies at Hollywood 16 or at Cinergy – has games and bowling too.
7. Events at Amarillo Civic Center or Globe News for the Performing Arts in downtown Amarillo
8. Catch a Sod Poodles game April – Sept at the new in 2019 Hodgetown ballpark downtown
9. The Discovery Center for kids and the OMBUCS outdoor park and splash pad right next door
10.Art Walk, the first Friday of every month at Sunset Center

1. Feldman’s Wrong Way Diner- fun for kids – has a train running through it
2. Buenas Dias - wonderful Breakfast
3. Hudspeth House for Breakfast (just across 4th ave-only available weekdays)
4. Buff’s- looks like a hole in the wall. It’s really good.
5. Pepitos and El Patio both have great Mexican food
6. Fat Boys Barbeque
7. Hills Burgers- best onion rings in Texas and has a great breakfast.
8. Soul Food – delicious home cooking
9. Joe Taco (on the square)- fun atmosphere – good Tex Mex – sometimes has live music
10.Back 40 grill (on the square) – sports bar – may have live music
11.Sayakormarns- Thai (on the square)
12.King and I – Thai – just off square by train tracks (hidden gem)
13.Palace Coffee – award winning coffee.
14.Donut Stop has pretty delicious donuts. Only open til about noon.
15.Green Chili Willy’s – people love their Chicken Fried Steak- just north of town off I-27
