Linens

Kitchen and bed/bath linens and towels are provided. Beds are made up with comforters and pillows. You should plan to put sheets and pillowcases on the beds before sleeping in them.

Each of the three bathrooms includes one roll of toilet paper and a laundered bath mat. The downstairs bath has a hand towel.

Do not use Blue Skies towels for your water and/or boat use.

Sunscreen permanently stains towels and sheets. Black make-up wash clothes are provided for that purpose. If you use disposable wipes, throw them in the trash, not in the toilet. These wipes are really bad for plumbing and septic, not matter what the manufacturer claims.

Leave soiled linens and towels in the main floor hallway. No need for you to do laundry on vacation - leave that to me.

Kitchen

The fully stocked kitchen offers everything you need to cook, visit, dine, and enjoy your vacation, including:

• Glasses, dishes, coffee mugs, silverware
• Pots, pans and cooking utensils
• FlexBrew single pod maker and carafe
• Toaster
• Microwave
• Crock pot
• Blender
• Hand mixer
• Tea kettle
• Towels
• Dish sponge
• Pot holders
• One roll paper towels
• One trash bag
• S’mores roasting sticks
• Grill tools
• Ash trays for outside smoking (remember, no smoking or vaping inside)

There are usually some items in the cabinets that guests have left behind, including salt and pepper and a few other spices, sugar and sugar substitute, dry creamer, condiment packages, dishwasher pods/soap, dish detergent, napkins. Please help yourself to all.

Since Blue Skies at Lake Anna is on a septic, the kitchen does not have a disposal. Plan to capture your food waste and throw it in the trash. Respect the septic.

Let me know if you find something important missing from the kitchen. You might just find it there during your next Blue Skies vacation.

Use of the master bath spa will deplete water reserves, so plan accordingly.

If anyone in your party could use a walker, bedside commode, or shower stool, let me know. I can furnish them.

New in 2024, I've furnished a Blue Skies camera for your use in taking photos or videos that you agree to share with others. I'm especially interested in photos of your pups, the abundant wildlife, water shenanigans, and anything else that you loved about Blue Skies and Lake Anna.

The camera is advertised as "waterproof," but I strongly discourage you from using it underwater. If the battery compartment isn't completely closed, the camera can be ruined.

So snap away and leave the camera for me to download after your visit. What could be easier? Please limit camera use to responsible guests. No children should be allowed to use the camera.

WIFI

The router is located in the laundry room. The network is Blue Skies and the password is @LakeAnna. Do not reset the router.

Laundry

There is often some laundry detergent in case you need to wash and dry your items.

Don’t worry about washing linens provided for your use – that’s my treat to you.

Pets

For our pet loving guests, old towels and sheets are provided on the laundry cart to care for your dogs. Although dogs are not allowed on furniture, if they just don’t listen, use these old sheets to cover the upholstery.

Crate your dog(s) if left unattended at Blue Skies.

If Fido has an accident, you might find a compact pet vacuum in the laundry closet to immediately address the spot. If not, blot the accident thoroughly with paper towels, and call me if you would like immediate attention. Use only hot water. Never use Resolve or similar, foamy carpet cleaners.

Outside Spaces

Thank you for not smoking or vaping inside Blue Skies at Lake Anna or on the dock. Areas approved for smoking include the covered front porch, the large back deck, and around the firepit.

The back deck is covered by a pergola to break up hot afternoon suns. You'll find a patio table and chairs on the deck. Cushions are either on the chairs or in the deck box.

Right off the deck, on a large concrete pad, you'll have a grill and propane for your use. A spare tank of propane is located under the deck platform. A picnic table provides a bit more seating.

Two kayaks are under the deck.

We don't supply firewood for the fire pit. You might find some wood near the fire. Or bring loppers to cut fallen wood. Area stores sell cut wood.

Parking abounds at Blue Skies at Lake Anna. Three vehicles easily front the home with easy back-in for two more cars at the left side. Do not park or drive on the right side lawn because that could damage the septic.

The Waterfront

The waterfront sand box provides the perfect spot to bake in the sun while watching the little ones paddle. Is you pup nervous about getting wet? This low-slope is perfect for the first time two- or four-legged landlubber to experiment with the joy of the water.

The paddle boat is at the water front. If it's on the covered boat lift, you may move it to make way for your boat.

Adult life jackets are in the deck box. There might be a child's jacket there, too. Let me know your children's weights if you need a life jacket for them, and I'll be sure to provide.

Do not raise your boat on the boat lift or run the lift to the bottom. You may raise the lift just enough to stabilize your boat in the water. There are many tie-offs on the dock and bring your own ropes.

This dock is huge. Best of all, it's cool to the touch, even in the scorching sun. You'll find chairs on the dock and at the sand box edge.
