9659 Main Street, Plymouth
Amador County has a long tradition of beer-brewing dating back to gold rush days. It's easy to almost lose sight of that in Plymouth, from where the vineyards of the Shenandoah Valley stretch as far as the eye can see. Fortunately, the guys at Amador Brewing Company are here to provide a hoppy, er, alternative to all the wine flowing down the valley. So if wine's not your thing, or if you need a change of pace, stop in here and see what's on tap!
As you arrive, you may see their "Husband Drop-Off" sign, beckoning thirsty travelers at the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley. And with good reason: Amador Brewing Company is literally the last stop before all the winery tasting rooms start vying for your attention. But be assured, this is a destination unto itself. The interior is rustic and welcoming, with seating indoors as well as outdoors on the patio (the patio is dog-friendly). While it can get crowded at peak times, folks are friendly and helpful, and you will never feel rushed.
There is always a good variety of craft brews on offer, from light session beers to dark and rich ones. You can opt for pints or, if you're like me, a flight of tasters so you can try different ones without commitment. They also sell growlers to go, perfect for enjoying back at the cabin while you bbq up dinner!
A rotating cast of food trucks provides the opportunity to get your grub on while enjoying the local scenery.
Amador Brewing Company is open Friday-Sunday. For more information: amadorbrewing.com
