19394 State Highway 88, Pine Grove
One question you might have regarding upcountry living is access to the variety of goods and services available in urban centers. When it comes to groceries, we have never been left wanting at Pine Grove Market, and this has become our go-to place to shop. Not only is it closer to the cabin as compared to the big name grocers in Jackson and Martell, but the quality of the products on offer here is fantastic and the service is always friendly and quick. This may not be one of those large warehouse stores, but we think you'll agree it is much better.
Produce. As you can see in the picture above, the market can fit a diverse array of fresh fruits and vegetables in a space much smaller than the nearest Safeway. You can be assured it is fresh, local and delicious.
Meats. While the market does not have a meat/fish counter, you can find an incredible array of packaged meats in their refrigerator case. We love to get their marinated chicken and steaks - ready for the grill without any further preparation. Another great feature of this store is the case with the prepared entrees; everything from meatloaf to tamales is available to take home and bake.
Frozen goods. Great selection here, including ice cream flavors not available at our local big name grocery store! Bring a cooler to help your goodies stay frozen on the drive back to the cabin.
Dry goods. Here is another area where the market shines. You'll find everything you need to cook at the cabin: spices, baking essentials, coffee, sundries and more. A bonus is that many items are stocked in smaller sizes than typically found at the big name grocers. You'll have a smaller amount leftover to worry about when you get back home.
Beer/Wine/Liquor. Extensive selection of local wines from the Shenandoah Valley and excellent craft beer in stock. You'll be able to get anything you're looking for.
Deli. We've written a separate story all about the wonderful deli at the back of this market. Read it here:
