Brian and I have both spent the majority of our lives in North Carolina and have raised our children here. Coming to the mountains as a family has always been a highlight! We are big hikers, and love getting on the trails any time of year. Nothing beats finding a cool, mountain swimming spot on a challenging hike in the hot summer!! We also love hiking in the winter, bundling up to enjoy the snow covered terrain. Of course, the fall in the NC mountains is heavenly with the cool breezes and gorgeous leaf colors. Not to be outdone, springtime with literal mountains of blooming rhododendron surrounding you is a sight to behold!

Beautiful home and location! Loved the “Rooster” search! Procedure requests were clear and everything was labeled, which made our orientation to the cabin easier. Thank you so much for offering this on Airbnb. Highly recommended as a vacation home!

This cozy cabin was perfect for our family getaway. Everyone had their own space and the pool table was a big hit. The home is well appointed, clean, and well maintained. Best of all, Deidre was very communicative and quick to respond. I highly recommend this special place.

We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were perfect for three adult couples. The cabin was beautifully decorated and there was plenty of seating for everyone. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need. There were plenty of blankets and bedding to make it nice and cozy. It was a short drive to the mountains for skiing, and a short drive to Boone for dining and shopping. Deidre was amazing to deal with and made the entire experience a true pleasure. We would highly recommend the Rocky Roost for any season of the year. We wished we could have stayed longer..

We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break at The Rocky Roost! Easy to feel at home, cozy with the wood burning fireplace , yet plenty of space for all 6 of us. This is our 2nd time to this place and we look forward to returning!

Perfect place for a family weekend vocation, super clean and all the utilities/entertainment work well. Windy outside but warm inside. Close to Grandfather mountain entrance, definitely will come back again!

We cannot say enough good things about this home! The house is beautiful and perfect for families! The house was extremely clean and cozy. Our boys loved playing darts and pool. The screened in back porch was so peaceful! It was also a great spot to have a meal with the family. Grandfather mountain was very close and Boone was not a far drive. Our host compiled a book for guests that answered all of our questions about the home and offered great suggestions for restaurants and local activities. She was also an excellent communicator and answered any questions we had. We will definitely book this home again if back in the area.

Our hosts' dedication to making our weekend getaway was successful & & absolutely wonderful!! Their cabin was cozy & comfortable with plenty of space. Most of all, it is peaceful & relaxing. The beds were comfy. The fact that there was a TV available in just about every room with multiple selections to watch was great. The pool table was a big hit & was used all weekend. Would absolutely return. Deidre was super nice! Thank you!

We loved staying at the Rocky Roost! The house was well kept and fully stocked. The owner was very responsive and personable. We loved sitting on the screened in porch that overlooked the lake. It was very peaceful and relaxing.
