Dining Options on Grand Cayman

Foodies will be very pleased with dining options on Grand Cayman. Whether you are in the mood for a water-front bar or fine dining, you won’t be disappointed. Visitors should note that many restaurants automatically add 15-20% gratuity to your check. Check the menu, as it will include a statement as such, if that is the case.

Located on Morgan’s Harbour in West Bay, Calypso Grill Restaurant features fine dining and a delightful waterfront setting. Open for Lunch and Dinner on Tuesday through Saturday, you will enjoy fresh fish brought in daily from the dock next door, along with many other exquisite creations of Chef George Fowler. Some of our favorites include Shrimp Trinidad, Lobster Bisque, Blackened Mahi, Grilled Wahoo, Millionaire’s Shortbread, and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Calypso also offers a fantastic wine list. It is our “go-to” special occasion dinner destination. We have celebrated many a (non-traditional) Thanksgiving dinner there!

Catch Restaurant & Lounge - HTTP://WWW.CATCH.KY - +1 345-949-4321

Located right across the dock from Calypso on Morgan’s Harbour in West Bay, Catch Restaurant & Lounge also offers waterfront dining. It has become our custom to have “arrival G&Ts” there our first night on island. A little more casual than Calypso, but still very nice, they offer a great selection of fresh seafood as well. Their cocktail program is strong, and they offer a great wine list. Some of our favorites include Buratta, Fresh Catch, Brussel Sprouts, Salad. They are also open for lunch, but they are closed all day on Tuesdays.

Ragazzi Ristorante and Pizzeria - HTTPS://WWW.RAGAZZI.KY - +1 345-945-3484

Located in the heart of the Seven-Mile Beach area, Ragazzi Ristorante and Pizzeria is probably our favorite Italian restaurant on island. We often begin with Caprese and Frito Misto, followed by a salad, followed by one of their amazing hand-crafted pastas or pizza. They also have a very impressive wine list that includes hard-to-find Italian wines as well as fine wines from all over the world. They are open every day for lunch and dinner.

Ristorante Pappagallo - HTTPS://WWW.PAPPAGALLO.KY - +1 345-949-1119

A close second in the Italian food category is Ristorante Pappagallo. It’s a little out of the way, but worth the drive. Pappagallo is situated on a 14-acre bird sanctuary overlooking a natural saltwater lagoon and sports a thatched roof in the dining room. Both the menu, which offers several selections of home-made pastas as well as cuts of Certified Angus Beef, and the award-winning wine list will not disappoint.

We love Indian Food, and Southern Spice is in the Bay Town Plaza (right across from The Warf Restaurant), does it really well. What’s good? Everything! You’ll find a casual atmosphere, very friendly servers, and a very reasonably priced menu. Don’t forget to order a Mango Lassi.

This ocean-front tiki bar & grill is a “must visit.” Located in the Northwest Point area (near the Turtle Farm & Dolphin Experience) Macabuca offers a true tiki bar experience right on the water. You must get the Calamari; and the fish & chips, fish tacos, tiki salad, and house-made ice cream sandwiches are some of our favorites. They also have several local beers on tap, or they’ll make you a cocktail or beach drink. One of the unique things about Macabuca is that you can snorkel or shore dive “Turtle Reef” right off of their deck. (No guarantees you’ll see a Turtle, though.) Whether you choose to get in the water or simply people-watch others, you’ll be right at home in your swimsuit.

If you’re hungry for a burger, fries and a beer, Lone Star Bar & Grill is a good option. Located in the heart of Seven-Mile Beach, they have indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a sports bar, so you’ll be able to watch your favorite sports team. They also have live music and a trivia night. Check their website for details.

We love Eats for breakfast, but they also have a couple of different dining rooms, one of which is a Legendz Bar, and one of which is Yoshi Sushi. They are located right across the street from The Westin on Seven-Mile Beach.

Although there are several locations, Paperman’s at The Strand in the heart of Seven-Mile Beach is our go-to place to pick up sandwiches. They have really good breakfast and lunch sandwiches, as well as muffins, cookies and, of course, coffee and tea. The dining room offers seating options of dining tables/chairs or more lounge-like leather club chairs.
