Fast cars, moonshine, and the hills of the Ga mountains all led to legendary makers of moonshine. Once hidden during prohibition, there's one in plain sight now - Grandpappy Mimms. It's not far from our beautiful lake home, which is a great place to get some 'shine and sip it on the porch. www.bit.ly/hiawassee Visit to see the feast for your soul. And check out this upcoming music performance they'll be hosting. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mountain-roots-revival-presents-shooter-jennings-with-waymores-outlaws-the-andrew-chastain-band-tickets-43274124070

I didn't even realize there were some real moonshine distilleries still around. Have you taken the tour at Grandpappy Mimms? Seems a bit dangerous compared to a wine tour..lol

Yes, we've visited and while there's not a large "tour" the bar is big and the tastings are fun. You'll leave with recipes too. The moonshine margarita is a popular one!
