Plymouth, Vermont 05056 Lake Amherst
Hello Guests!
It's almost time for your stay at Vermont Cottage on Lake Amherst in Plymouth, Vermont. A charming antique cottage, with modern creature comforts, quirks included. We truly hope you will have a great time. We will leave it to you to contact us if you need anything. We will e-mail you as to how to access the cottage in a separate e-mail.
All you need are your own clothes and food. Feel free to use anything in the cottage. There are places marked "Private" and that will be made clear. There is a notebook on the desk in the living room that has an alphabetical guide to all functions and amenities in the home.
PLEASE DO AN INITIAL WALK-THROUGH, GET ACQUAINTED, & LET US KNOW OF ANY ISSUES- If anything is out of order or amiss upon your arrival, please call us so we are able to make it right. Hopefully we have crossed all our T’s and dotted all I’s prior to your arrival. If it’s anything less than 5 stars, we want to know about it! We will fix with a 5-star response.
DIRECTIONS are also within this Houfy.com guide.
SECURITY SYSTEM - Our security system will remain unarmed during your stay so you don’t need to worry about alarms going off. We do have outside security cameras for added security until you arrive. We turn them off after we see that you have arrived as it we trust you with the property and it helps save batteries. Please advise of ETA if it is going to be after 4 p.m.
CHECK-IN & -OUT- Check-in is after 4 PM, check-out is before 11 AM unless otherwise arranged. Unfortunately, during busy times, we are usually not able to accommodate early check-ins or late check outs even though we’d love to. The property is large with many amenities and takes cleaning and maintenance 2-4-5 hours to turn it over and get it ready. However, if it’s ready early we will be sure to let you know or if the cleaning crew is delayed we will let you know so you can stay later. Refer to your contract for other arrangements that have been made. If you would like to drop off luggage before 4 pm, you may do so by putting it under the carport or in the woodshed. This is at your own discretion and risk.
PLENTY OF AMENITIES- The house is very well equipped with most of the things you will need to be right at home. Feel free to use anything in the main parts of the house. The pantry and laundry are in the hallway. Boat is at the dock. Wood is piled by fire pit and in the woodshed. Fire pits are on the front lawn, we have two. Volleyball court on back yard.
DOGS- We have a "doggie photo album" and have provided stickers, colored pens, etc. to use to do your dog page. Please bring a picture of your dog and leave it in the album. We have some really cute and fun posts in there and they are so much fun to look at. So, be a part of that if you want. There is a dog fee because we do a deeper clean with products just for pets. We also wash all linens twice just to be sure. Dog fee is $25/night per dog. It's $20 for a cash discount. Leave check or cash on the kitchen counter. We compared prices to our local kennel which is $40/night, so we think it's a deal.
CONDIMENTS & OTHER AMENITIES- There will be salt & pepper, condiments, spices, herbs, olive oil, vinegar, some emergency food items, etc. Feel free to use anything. We have a “take& leave” system. It has worked well and goes like this: use it and replace it with the same or greater value. The hall has the pantry and laundry areas in it. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
SECURING PROPERTY UPON DEPARTURE- Upon your departure, be sure to leave the keys on the hooks where you found them so we can find them too. Please be sure doors to the outside are securely closed and locked when you leave. Doors have blown open and this puts the property at risk from cold air and rodents entering. It’s best to lock up the porch door first, then the French doors and exit & lock the back door behind you. Thanks!
AMENITIES - We have a notebook at the cottage that will tell you where everything is and/or how to use it. We took it out of this guide because we have have had some feedback that it is too much info! Maybe mistaken as a rule guide.....we don't know, but you will find it on the desk along with brochures and other things.
CHECK-OUT list is in Bulletin Board in this guide and also in your contract. Please review it. Thanks.
