Start your fire.

Use your scrap paper to start your fires! Bags provided!
Twigs- select small ones from the brush pile.
Crumple your paper and put the twigs on top. Twigs are kindling and you need kindling.
Slowly add larger pieces of kindling to the fire as it gets going, but not too soon!
You can buy pre-cut campfire wood at the grocery store or use the wood we supply to you as an amenity. It will be important to not have the wood be too big at first. If too big, it will just smolder unless you have a good fire going.
Once you get a good coal base going, you can start to add larger wood. Be sure there is plenty of space between the logs. Fires need air!
Pile dry logs on top with plenty of space (air) in between....like this.
Pretty soon you will have your own blazing fire to enjoy!
Remember, NEVER use accelerants on fires. At Vermont Cottage Lake Amherst you can let your campfire burn out. Never pull hot logs out of the fire pit. LEAVE THEM!
Other things to consider when preparing a campfire.
"Loppers" are hanging on a tree for your use.
There is plenty of kindling in the woods.
Brush pile to cut from as well...
Woodpile for fire pit is stacked under cover by the hot tub, in the back row.
Just an FYI, this wood is too large for the indoor fireplace.
Indoor firewood is stacked in the front row.
Stay at Vermont Cottage Lake Amherst to build your perfect campfire.
